She Couldn’t Sell a T-Shirt to an Audience of 28 Million. Oof.

She Couldn’t Sell a T-Shirt to an Audience of 28 Million. Oof.

This isn’t an urban legend.

Arii legit put all her energy into growing metrics – and looking incredibly fly on the gram – instead of growing an army of die hard followers (24 million counts as an army, yes?).

It’s tempting to obsess over the numbers. I’ve been guilty of this too! But when we do, we’re not growing a business…

…we’re growing a page to feed our ego. And the last time I checked, that soup line smells like old gym socks and a botched merchandising deal.

If there’s one lesson we can learn from influencers it’s this…building a page guarantees us beautifully impressive vanity metrics.

That’s it.

No bonds.

No loyalty.

No sales.

Building a brand? That’s what helps us grow an audience of gushing fans, respect, trust, excitement, conversation, stripe account pings, love notes slipped into our DM. A real following.

Branding. Don’t do business without it…especially if you wanna someday sell stuff.

Because hustling to get 24 million people on a bus and having them later completely ignore you, will make a heart close up like an old ear piercing.
